Culturally sensitive, simple playground equipment for Sooka Community UCZ Pre-School, Western Provence, Zambia.

There is no playground equipment at all for the Pre-School which was built in 2014  with donations from rural NSW family.

History: The Sooka Community invited me to a meeting in the United Church of Zambia at Sooka in May 2013. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the commencement of a Community Pre-School.

I suggested that they commence a Pre-School in the church while the actual Pre-School building was being funded and built. The Pre-School commenced in the church in January 2014 and moved into the new building in January 2015. Both years have had enrolments of 25 children daily.

My connection to this community dates back to 2007 when I discovered the new Sooka Community School, which had been built by Shackleton's Fishing Lodge with the assistance of a benefactor from USA. The school was built for 35 children and was actually planned to be a Pre-School...... however, became a primary school with 65 children within 4 months. There are now 150 children and the Zambian Government has just built a new campus with 3 large classrooms and one teacher's house. Recently the school was declared a Zambian Government Primary School by the Minister of Education. The Zambian Government has also built a large boarding school within walking distance about 3 kms away. The missing link in the education chain then became a Pre-School. Tick...done.

There is no playground equipment at either the Pre-School or Primary School or within the community.
